Target Number

Hit 3 targets from six numbers with + − × ÷. Exact is best, close still scores.

The numbers round from the TV classics: six numbers, four operations and a target. Exact is best, but close still scores.

How to play

  1. You get a target and six numbers. Pick a number, an operation, then another number.
  2. The result replaces those two numbers on the board. Each number can be used once, and every result must be a positive whole number.
  3. Hit the target and it locks in by itself, or lock in your closest number. You can undo or start again.
  4. There are 3 targets.

Scoring

For each target: 333 points if exact, 233 within 5, 167 within 10, nothing further away. If time runs out, your closest number counts.

What it works

  • Numerical intelligence You do mental arithmetic and look for useful factors.
  • Logical reasoning You often work backwards from the target.
  • Working memory You keep intermediate results in mind while you test ideas.
