To Scale

How many times does one country fit into the other?

Maps lie about size. Here two countries are drawn at the same scale, and you judge how many times one fits into the other.

How to play

  1. You see two countries drawn at the same scale.
  2. Type how many times one fits into the other. Decimals are fine.
  3. You then see the real ratio. There are 5 pairs.

Scoring

Up to 200 points per pair for the exact ratio, down to 0 at 5×, 3× or 2× off depending on the difficulty.

What it works

  • Spatial intelligence You compare the areas of two irregular shapes.
  • Numerical intelligence You turn that comparison into a ratio.
  • General knowledge Knowing how big countries really are helps.
